Saw dt_maxwell today. She understands the woes of not all colleges being created equal (and not the obvious part, but the illusion high school gives you that once you get into your "number one" that it's easy street from there). Anyways, <3 DT.

I have a paper to write over the weekend. I am not happy about this. I do not like writing papers. Especially of the 6 page variety. At least with how she wants us to write it a lot of the content is a given. Time to warm up the old bullshitting skills.

I really do enjoy all of my classes, as depressing as Social Problems can get at times. I seriously think my Soc professor was honorably discharged from the military for being lesbian. (She hasn't stated why it happened, but it logically makes sense to me.) Also she was talking about the pledge of allegiance and the meaning of the flag. I felt a bit more validated that I haven't pledged once since 9/11.

We should totally give seminars at high schools about the woes of bad college experiences and how to cope with them. We can call it "Facing Reality: When Things Go Downhill" or something like that. The kids would love us and the counselors would despise us. :P

Six-page paper? Ew. I'll be available for ranting on AIM this weekend, then.

<3 you too. ^_^

That isn't a bad idea at all, maybe I should call up Ms. Cousens...

I love writing papers.

I loved my sociology professor. I'm convinced they have more open views, and they like discussions too.

I think the topic as a whole leads to a method of thinking that you don't really encounter in other academic disciplines.

Exactly! I loved my two sociology classes and the sociology club.

I haven't pledged once, either. I would respectfully ignore the command to please stand in high school. The teacher whose class I was in everyday at that time would always question me about it and make me feel horrible for it. I didn't care. I tended to rebel in high school with most things, but the feelings behind that in particular are still there!

Also, I am queen of bullshitting. It's so much fun. And I always get A's or B's even though I bullshitted.

See the thing is I was pretty much the conformist in high school, never outspoken, but even at like the school rallies and stuff I wouldn't pledge. I found that it wasn't the teachers that gave me the most flak, but other students.

Bullshitting is how I got into college.

I had hone my bullshitting skills years ago. So much win.

Also, my AIM username is the same one as my LJ account! Add me yo.

Do you remember BLS's halfhearted attempt to get us to pledge every morning? I think it was in 8th grade. She was so busy that it never happened every morning and they couldn't force those not wanting to pledge to pledge.

Yeah, a lot of their attempts just sort of fizzled out. But I think they always did it at rallies and class meeting type things though.

I adore sociology, though admittedly that could be because I had a really hot professor who I adored. But I took social problems and yeah, it's kinda depressing at times, but often we would have a debate where we'd talk about the topic, then everyone would be allowed to say their opinion on it. I waited the entire semester until we got to gay marriage and you know how I'm always quiet until I get started on teh_gay? Um, yeah. It kinda...well. People were staring at me as I left at the end of class like "WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DID YOU DO TO THE QUIET GIRL?"

Weirdly, I had that class with my mom and my best friend. My mom told me I embarrassed her and my best friend was like, "I can't believe you had the guts to say all that."

*sigh* Oh, West Virginia. You stupid, backwards, hick state.

Also, we were talking about dialects/accents in my origins class the other day and someone said something about Boston accents and I was like, "That is not what they sound like!" 'Cause you sounded nothing like they were doing. :-P

Hmmm, I can't wait until we get to gay rights either. There are a lot of social pathologists in my class (ie at first they were saying ppl were homeless because they're lazy, drug addiction, etc.) so I know there's gonna be shit about it later on.

Well I don't really have that much of a Boston accent. I never really sounded like the whole pahk the cah in havahd yahd thing.
