When I Close My Eyes
I Can See Miles of Headlights

Wow it's almost been a year since I last updated.

I won't bore with RL issues, because meh nothing is really new.

I have a tumblr now! If any of you guys remember me, you should follow me or whatever. Most of what I post is Avengers related, since that movie has turned me into a rabid Tony/Steve shipper.

I so want to create things for fandom again, but I feel so weighted down by all my other crap that I wouldn't know where to start. :(

One thing I find odd is how long I've been in fandom. Is it really 9 years now? My boyfriend's brother was doing something on tumblr with Homestuck shipping olympics thing and I was looking at some of the people in it and they seem like such whippersnappers. I feel like I'm super old and get off my lawn! But I guess aside from my brief venture into Sherlock I haven't really been involved much in fandomy stuff for almost 4 years now.

As an aside note, I really should post what art I have lying around. If anything just to feel less like a lazy lurker.

Hmm, my flist only goes back to skip 150. So much for getting caught up with everyone. I'm at Charles' house and I'm bored since I can't get his AoEII to work. Does anyone have some recs for Sherlock Holmes fic? Holmes/Watson, preferably movie-verse. I will get around to watching the BBC versions. As for reading the books...doubtful that I'll have the time.

After many trials and tribulations I have a working copy of Windows 7 up and running.

Full DetailsCollapse )

I've been having nightmares recently. A lot more often than usual. I wonder what that means.

Pet peeve: when an elective class is more work than the classes for my major. I'm laughing at the professor while she looks shocked that people didn't do the 120 pages of reading for the first week. She's also Jamaican, she sounds like the woman in Pirates of the Caribbean. This will be an annoying but amusing class.

It's odd how memory works. I haven't thought of him in almost a month. Then suddenly while driving I see a blue car, and the effect is almost instant. It's that feeling of unbearable longing as everything comes back to me, how good it was at the beginning, how bad it was in the end. I go through what was a month of thought in less than a minute. All I'm left with is emptiness.

Why even bother? I think the only thing that can come of trying another relationship is me getting hurt. But there's always this nagging feeling inside me that I'm letting the one get away. I cope with it through hate. Hate is my shield. In my contempt I am safe.

The end.

Not even close. I have unfinished business. This, this is just the beginning.

Green. It's almost all green. The smell of new but somehow familiar. Cold, but pleasantly so, fresh. I See it now. Soaring on its wings. My heart feels free while my mind guides. It's all green.

Here's some random feedback from building my own computer:

-Investigate thoroughly what you're buying from different vendors. Often what looks like a good deal is due to the product not coming with standard things (driver disks, manual, cables, etc.)
-Have a technologically gifted friend. This is a must.
-Good google skills will get you far. Know how to search for exactly what you need to fix problems.
-Be fragile, but firm. A lot of parts of the computer require quite a bit of force to install them inside.
-Don't build your own computer if you need a new one fast. This is a process that can be very time consuming over a long period.
-Do research on tech stores in your area. You usually can get a better deal on parts online, but if you only need one last thing you don't want to wait an extra week.

I didn't realize today was JKR's birthday. It's rather fitting that I'm rereading the Harry Potter series again. It's intersting, reading it as an outsider to fandom now. It's nice to enjoy and re-experience the magic that got me into the books in the first place. I'm on Prisoner of Azkaban now.

I'm gonna be getting my new computer soon, I can't wait. It looks like I won't have to spend quite as much money as I thought, which means I'll have more to get a nice monitor. I'm paying ~$450 for a barebones (for the more technically inclined, Dink, my friend helping me, says it's a core 2 duo e8400).

I've been doing little things on my current computer to clean it up so that the transition process is smoother. One of these was finally sorting through my bookmarks. I had about 2000 when I started, and not counting fanfic that I still have to sort I'm down to about 150. Major nostalgia looking at all of the fandom stuff. =(
